Anyone who read my now-defunct personal Substack knows I listen to way more music than a person should. I need to spend 3ish hours a day wandering around listening to music, and then another 3ish hours at night looking at clothes and perfume I can’t afford online while also listening to music. So each month I’ll be sharing my current rotation here—also on this playlist I’ll update as we go along—pairing each album with a perfume because this is Sample Sluts and that’s what we do. Lfg!

Slayyyter: WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA (2026)

I need to give a shoutout to my bff Eric because he has been repping Slayyyter for like seven years and I basically ignored him. But as with many gay-endorsed artists I originally brushed off—Charli xcx, Ariana Grande, and yes, Britney Spears—I eventually came around on Slayyyter: hard. WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA brings me right back to 2006: it’s giving Crystal Castles, it’s giving Justice, it’s giving Ed Banger records by way of early Ke$ha. This album is trashy, it’s indie sleaze, it’s a party and an absolute blast. I’m therefore pairing it with P*rnstar (Noyau Doux) by Toskovat, which has notes of bubblegum, martinis, and suntan lotion. “Cheap love costs everything,” announces the brand’s copy, “and I loved you more than all the bottles I’ve seen the bottom of.”
